KidWatch › Channel Safety › JackHartmann
Genuinely one of the cleanest, most useful kids' channels I've come across.
Best for ages 2+
Jack Hartmann is basically a classroom teacher in your living room. The alphabet video teaches both letter sounds AND ASL signs at the same time, which I thought was a really cool bonus. The counting to 100 one pairs every number with a physical exercise, so kids are actually moving their bodies the whole time. My kind of screen time.

The dance and brain break videos like Tooty Ta and Penguin Dance are pure silly fun. Kids have to follow along with body movements, so they're actually engaged instead of zoned out. Old MacDonald is a familiar song done well, nothing weird, just farm animals stacking up verse by verse.
Honestly I sat through all five and had zero moments where I cringed or wanted to skip ahead. The only thing I'd flag is that Tooty Ta includes 'bottoms up' as a move, which made me smirk. It's totally innocent in context, just kids sticking their butts out, but worth knowing.
Flagged Moments
mid-video
The song instructs kids to do a 'bottoms up' move, meaning they stick their rear ends out. It is completely innocent in context and clearly just a silly dance move, but the phrasing might get a giggle from older kids.
near end
Kids are instructed to close their eyes and turn around while doing the dance. In a classroom setting with a lot of kids moving around, this could lead to bumping into each other, so just clear some floor space.
full video
The ASL hand signs shown are a great inclusion, but parents should know the video does not slow down much for practice, so a child who is actually learning ASL may need the video paused frequently. Not a content concern, just a pacing note.
What Parents Should Know
Clear a little floor space before putting on Tooty Ta or Penguin Dance because kids will absolutely be spinning and stumbling around.
Watch the See It Say It Sign It video alongside your kid at least once so you can reinforce the ASL signs since the video moves pretty quickly through all 26 letters.
Use the Count to 100 video as a morning movement routine, it genuinely works as a short workout for little ones and gets wiggles out before learning time.
Feel free to leave the room during any of these. There is nothing in any of the five videos that needs supervision from a content standpoint.
If your child is in a classroom that uses Jack Hartmann songs, watching at home will help them feel confident and prepared since the videos double as practice tools.
